Tiempos Locos

Bueno,

Crazy week. I interviewed two young boys to see if they were ready for their baptisms, and both the interviews went great. Cool to hear their testimonies and why they wanted to follow Jesus Christ.

We’ve been having some pretty crappy luck with the people we’ve been teaching. None of them are progressing, and it’s been hard to find people who really want to learn more. Just gotta keep searching I guess.

We shared a conference talk with Mirta yesterday, one of our converts, because it had been a dream of hers to hear a talk from the prophet. So we went and used my little speaker and listened to a talk. She loved it! We’re gonna give her some Ensigns to read.

Love you guys , sorry that this email is super small.

Redemption for Jose

Hola!

No time! Two stories:

We met a guy named Jose who gave us his address so that we could go and teach him, but turns out he lied to us and gave us a fake address. Next thing we knew, though, he came up to us one day and said sorry for lying, and he gave us his real address. Turns out he doesn’t like giving his address to other people because he’s super poor. But, he was riding by us on his scooter, and he felt bad for lying, and he totally turned around to talk with us. We eventually taught him and his wife, and it went really well.

Today, we were riding on the bus, and this super super sad girl got on the bus with a ton of bags. We helped her with her bags and stuff, and she sat down next to us. My comp started to ask her questions, and we got to know her a little bit. Turns out her boyfriend took off and left her to fend for herself. So we told her what we do as missionaries, and we told her that God loves her and that he had put us in her path to help her. The only Book of Mormon I had on me was one that I was personally studying, but I felt like I should give it to her, so I did. I explained to her that it would give her the comfort and direction that she was looking for. It was a really spiritual experience. We wrote down her contactos, and we’re gonna send them to other missionaries so that she can receive the help that she needs.

Bueno, sorry, this was super quick, love you all, have a great week!

One Story, Two Languages

Hola Fam and Friends,

So I don’t have any time this week because all the Elders want to play some futbol. But Imma tell yall a quick story that was really amazing for me.

This story is totally appropriate for Mother’s Day, big shoutout to my queen of a mother.

For those of you that dont know, my mom has a story that was put into the Ensign like 11 years ago about my brother Nolan when he was super young. It’s super amazing, so if you want to read it it’s in the October 2008 Ensign. Anyway, I found one of these Ensigns in the house of the president of the branch, obviously it was in Spanish jaja. Anyway, it was super special for me, and I lost my mind a little bit. I told the president that my mother had a story in the magazine, and he got all excited too. So I read them the story, and testified of the words of my sweet mother. It was so cool to read the story in Spanish, man the spirit was so strong. Anyway, President ended up sharing my mother’s story and her testimony to the whole branch on Sunday, and man I was crying like a weee babe. Super powerful experience.

The hand of the Lord is working in the lives of many here in Media Agua, mine included. I love the mission.

Love you mommy, thanks for everything you have and are teaching me. Your testimony has touched the lives of these sweet people, and I’m so grateful. LOVE YOU!

Testimonies, Goodbyes, and Stress

Wow, where to start.......

First off, Elder Tartaglia and I had the chance to talk for a few minutes on the radio with this super awesome guy named Pepe. We were talking with him in a little store called a kiosco, and he was super interested in what we do as missionaries, so he invited us to talk for a few minutes. He mostly asked us questions about our schedule and how the whole mission life is, but at the very end we got to share our testimonies, which was great. We also gave the address of the church, so people know where we meet. Super tight.

Liliana Salinas was baptized on Saturday by yours truly. It was my first time getting into the water in the mission field, so ya im pretty much moving up in the world. Na, but the service went well. On Sunday after she was confirmed, her sister Mirta, who we baptized the week before, got up to share her testimony. HOLY MOLY ROLLY ROLLY! I’ve never had so much joy in my heart for one of my converts. It was her first time sharing her testimony in church, and by the end, she had everybody crying like babies. She spoke with such conviction, and I about stood up to say ¨!Amen Hermana!¨ This gospel changes lives, man oh man yes it does.

We got transfers this weekend, and I’ll be with Elder Chaves in Media Agua for the next 6 weeks. Elder Tartaglia and I had a lot of success together, and it was hard having to say goodbye. But I know that Elder Chaves, we being two gringos with about the same time in the mission, and I are gonna learn a lot together. He’s from Cali, and he plays the guitar. So ya, pretty much homies ya....already lol Spanish.

I’m the new district leader, so I’ve got a few more things to do. I’m a little stressed about it because I’m still learning the area, so if y’all could put me in your prayers that would be just dandy jaja. I have faith that the Lord will strengthen me, just a little nervous is all.

Anyways, love you guys so much! Have a wonderful week! The Lord’s work is progressing, and if you’re not already, share your testimony whenever you can. The Lord will bless you!
